In her essay, the author takes a clarifying look at the history of the Italian Drawings of Francis Bacon (Dublin 1909 – Madrid 1992) after years of controversy and resistance by official critics.
Artistic events, indissolubly tied to human ones, are placed at the centre of attention with a number of simple but clear observations and Art History has finally regained its role over and above all other interests, privileging the analysis of facts and research. At the same time, aesthetic analysis, with the aid of a number of details highlighted in the book by photographs – a characteristic quality of someone used to intercepting the signals every artist leaves on his or her works – helps to complete the picture in just a few pages.
